People & Community Network

A brand new support network for communities hosted by the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust

Please see a message from WAST about their new network and details on how to join.

Good afternoon,

We are very happy to share information with you today about the People & Community Network, and hopefully you too will agree that this will revolutionise the way we at the Welsh Ambulance Service engage and involve our patients and the wider public.

We launched this Network in line with our Quality Strategy as we are continuously working on understanding what Quality care means to our patients, one of the most interactive ways of doing this is by engaging directly with patients and the public and bring them in to weigh in on our decisions as a Trust.

Our new People & Community Network will be publicised through social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, in order to cast a wide net to members of all communities. In turn we hope to build a more representative network of today’s Welsh public, enabling people from all backgrounds to contribute their knowledge, experience and influence, for our WAST services to support the needs of the community they represent.

Our aims:

· Inclusivity of People & Communities

· Innovation of ideas by including People & Communities

· Influencing our decisions and actions

· Involvement of as many people as possible across as many Communities

Our network has an array of activities you can get involved in, which include: Attending Events (Digital for the time being, and in person when it is feasible), Attend Meeting (which again is Digital for the time being and in person when it is feasible) so that you can be involved in discussions and decisions that we make as a Public Serving Service, Share with us Patient Stories if you have any which really give us insight into what went well and areas to work on, Readers Panel so you can weigh in on our information we disseminate to the public and how accessible and easy to read the information is, Receive Information and be on our mailing lists, Recruitment Panel where you get to weigh in on decisions we make about people we hire, Take part in our surveys which give us invaluable insight on the feelings and views of our patients and the public, and finally our Mystery Shopper exercises where we will ask you to be a mystery shopper when accessing our NHS 111 service and feedback to us your findings.

There is no limit to how many of these you undertake as a network member and you do not have to take part in all of them, you can contribute as little or as much as you like and your feedback will be very well received and we are grateful for anything you have to say.

I’m sure you’ll agree this is an exciting time for both us here at the Welsh Ambulance Service and yourselves, and we would love to have you on board.

If you are interested in joining our People & Community Network then please let one of us know and we can forward the joiner form on to you, which is also available in Welsh.
