It is one of the very few organisations that focus solely on carers. With carers often doing the most of the heavy lifting in terms of care, the need for support is evident. We run online support groups with some of them being run by former carers. Some of the groups are specialist looking at issues surrounding particular aspects of caring. So for example we run a very successful young onset focus group as the issues faced by carers can be very unique. The groups are focused on support and solutions and a safe space to share. We also run a Carer Development Programme TIDE - Together In Dementia Everyday - Carer Development Programme which arms carers with the skills and resilience they need to maintain their own wellbeing whilst undertaking a caring role. The programme also focuses on self and collective advocacy as we encourage carers to speak out and campaign for change for those that are interested in extending their role further.
