Heartwarming News in Challenging Times

“Being human is given. But keeping our humanity is a choice.”

In times like this we truly see what makes us human. Despite everything that is happening people are coming together and supporting each other as communities. Yes, it's overwhleming and difficult to find our way through at times, but what is truly heartwarming to experience is the sheer level of compassion, empathy and love that people are showing each other. Now, more than ever love thy neighbour seems poignant. We've never expereinced something like this before, even during the Wolrd Wars the pubs stayed open! Yet we're sticking together regardless. Each week I'm going to be sharing good news with you. To help us all find the diamonds in the coal and to know that we can pull through this together.

What seems most poignant this week is the sheer volume of people stepping up to volunteer. Our COVID 19 Volunterering page went live on Friday and in that time we've had 107 people volutneer for our formal volunteeing opportunities, as Health Care Drivers, Food Prep in Hospitals and Help in the Home. Then there's the sheer volume of community support groups and community volunteers that are springing up all over the place. We've extedned our Community Connectors and Befriending service with exttra memeber sof staff supporting these teams. We are here to help and support you 7 days and are able to give you the help and advice you need.

The message is loud and clear. We're in this together, we're sticking together and we're supporting each other.
