Foodbank Fortnight

As a thank you to foodbanks across Powys during the pandemic, staff and councillors are invited to donate to an appeal to help support the volunteer-run project.

As a result of the pandemic, foodbanks in the county have seen an increased demand as many people have found it hard to afford basics like food.

Leader of Powys County Council, Cllr Rosemarie Harris, is running a Foodbank Fortnight Appeal to raise funds for the ten foodbanks in Powys so they can purchase supplies to feed families who may need it most.

Powys County Council is working with PAVO who are collecting the donations and will distribute the money raised directly to the foodbanks.

She explains: “The pandemic has been a difficult time for many and I hope this can contribute to further support their important work as we near the Christmas period.

“As many staff are working from home, we have arranged for an online donations page instead of food drop off points. If you are able to, please give what you are comfortable donating as every pound will help. If everybody was able to give just £1.00, it would make a huge a difference to the important work of Powys Foodbanks.”
