Anti-Racist Wales Further Education Research

Researchers would like to speak to people from ethnic minority backgrounds who are enrolled on (or have recently been enrolled on) Further Education, Apprenticeship and Adult Learning programmes in Wales.

EYST Wales, in partnership with David Kester & Associates (DK&A), has been commissioned by the Welsh Government to conduct qualitative research aiming to strengthen Welsh Government’s understanding of learner and staff experiences of racism in Further Education (FE), including A Levels, BTEC, Access courses, NVQs and Vocational Qualifications, Apprenticeships, and Adult Learning, as part of the Welsh Government’s Anti-Racist Action Plan.

This research is designed to better understand the lived experiences of ethnic minority learners and staff in FE, including their experiences of racial discrimination and harassment, and their views on what needs to change in order to achieve the Anti-Racist Wales ambition.

We still need to recruit a few more participants to be interviewed as soon as possible, by next week . Anyone from an ethnic minority background who has been on a Further Education course in Wales at any point since January 2017 would be eligible – and we’re especially looking for people who have withdrawn from their studies, to learn about the barriers they faced to continuing their course.
