Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council Seeking Youth Representatives

Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for young

individuals to become active participants in local democracy

The Council is on the lookout for two dedicated Youth Representatives who will play a vital role in bringing the voices and perspectives of young people to the forefront of council discussions and decision-making processes.

This initiative aims to empower young people aged between 15 and 25 to actively participate in shaping the future of their community.

Responsibilities include:

· Gathering and relaying ideas and views from young people in the town

· Promoting engagement among young people in Town Council activities and events

· Active participation in meetings, discussions, and debates

· Building connections with youth groups and organisations to facilitate communication with the

  Town Council

· Learning about the workings of the Town Council and its role in local governance

· Promoting the work of the Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council to young people

Becoming a “Youth Rep” is not only an opportunity to contribute to the community but also a chance to learn about local democracy and governance, which can greatly enhance your CV.

The deadline for submitting applications is 5pm, Friday, May 24th, 2024. 

Two Youth Representatives will be selected during the Council meeting on Monday, June 24th, 2024. 

Successful applicants will be contacted for further information and assistance in preparing for the meeting.
