FUNDRAISING ESSENTIALS

Overview

With the funding environment becoming increasingly competitive the ability to write succinct and persuasive applications is a valuable asset to your organisation. This practical workshop will give you the skills to write compelling applications, help you navigate potential funding sources to find the right match for your organisation, and reveal the strategies that lead to funding success.

Who is it for?

Trustees, committee members and staff who are new or with little experience of fundraising. Those who want to improve the success rate of their applications.

FINANCE ESSENTIALS: Budgets, Management Accounts, Cash Flow Forecasting & Full Cost Recovery
Wednesday 20th February, 10am - 4pm • Newtown

Overview 

This one day workshop will give you a sound foundation in the tools and knowledge essential for managing finances within community groups, social enterprises and charities. The day will be hosted by Angela Owen, PAVO's Head of Internal Services, who has safely steered PAVO's finances for many years and brings a friendly approach to what can be a daunting topic.

Who is it for?

Those who work with the finances and money handling in a charity, social enterprise or community group. This could be a trustee, volunteer, treasurer, finance person or manager.

Outcomes for you and your organisation:

  • Understand what a budget is and how to write one
  • Learn how you can use budgets to support funding requests
  • Be able to understand, plan and develop a cash flow forecast
  • Understand what management accounts are and how to present them

BUSINESS PLANNING ESSENTIALS
Wednesday 13th March, 10am - 4pm • Llandindrod Wells

Overview

This practical one day workshop will introduce tools and techniques to aid understanding of how to put together a workable business plan for your organisation.

It will look at organisational priorities, the needs of beneficiaries or the 'target market' and the structures, processes and resources required to turn your organisation's vision into a reality.

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for anyone involved in business and financial planning for their organisations. This includes Board members, Trustees, Chief Executives and Senior Managers

GOVERNING YOUR ORGANISATION

Overview

Being a trustee in Powys can be a rewarding experience but the responsibility for good governance and compliance can often feel overwhelming. This workshop will give you confidence in your role as a trustee and in carrying the responsibilities of governance to help you improve the overall effectiveness of your board.

In a practical and engaging learning environment we will focus on the evolving elements of governance working with other trustees who share similar challenges and the same commitment to making a difference in their communities.

QUICK START TO SOCIAL MEDIA

Overview

We've all heard how valuable social media can be for raising the profile of your organisation but taking the plunge can be overwhelming, from knowing your hashtag etiquette to building a network that provides real value for your organisation, don’t worry—our quick starter will get you from newbie to social media savvy. This session will give you the skills and knowledge to start building your social media presence.  

Who is it for?

The quick start social media session is an introduction for those with no experience of using social media for organisations. It aims to take you from creating an account to understanding the basics.

Using Infoengine to Promote Your Services

WEBINAR: Thursday 14th March, 10.30am - 11.30am

Overview

infoengine is the largest and fastest growing online directory of voluntary services in Wales*. It is now a vital tool connecting the people of Wales with the huge range of services and activities that the third sector provides.

During this interactive video session, PAVO's Chief Executive Carl Cooper will guide you through the infoengine site - from the basics of registering your organisation to using the site for promoting your services to the people who need them. There will be opportunities for questions and answers as part of the session.

* infoengine is provided by Third Sector Support Wales, an alliance of County Voluntary Councils and Wales Council for Voluntary Action. The lead body for infoengine within TSSW is Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO).
