The Veterans’ Foundation provides grants up to £40,000 for small to medium sized not-for-profit organisations in England, Scotland and Wales, including registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs) and community groups that are directly involved in the provision of support to those in need in the Armed Forces and the Seafaring community. Please note that grant awards usually tend to be significantly lower than the maximum award level of £40,000.
The following grants are available:
1. Grants up to £40,000 for the exclusive use on salaries over a two-year period (for example, £40,000 as £20,000 for each of the subsequent two years). In some cases, the grant award may be limited to one year and grantees will be asked to reapply at a later date for the second year of funding, and
2. Grants up to £30,000. Trustees will also consider a bid for a spread grant up to a maximum of £30,000 (for example, £30,000 as £10,000 for each of the next 2 or 3 years).
Grants can be used for project and running costs of eligible organisations. Examples of the type of project that can be funded through the programme include (please note this is not an exclusive list):
o Care during old age.
o Disability.
o Improving employment prospects.
o Improving mental health, including building confidence, self-esteem and social interaction.
o Reducing homelessness and poverty.
o Tackling addictions (for example, drugs and alcohol), and
o Welfare and medical support.
The Foundation may expect applicants to have a degree of matched funding in place prior to applying, particularly from eligible organisations with a limited track record of successful delivery.
Funding is not available for:
o Any for-profit activities.
o Fundraising activities.
o Gap years.
o Housing associations and corporations, unless activities and costs are clear and charitable.
o Organisations requiring payments to be sent to accounts outside the UK.
o Organisations that do not support the Armed Forces or seafaring communities.
o Sponsorship, or
o Study trips.

The first application deadline in 2024 is on Tuesday 30th January. There should be three further grant rounds during the year, in April, July and October.
