The Treebeard Trust supports transformational initiatives which have the potential to create a fairer society. It does so primarily through financial investments (i.e. grants) in partner organisations, both charities and other social enterprises.

The Trust’s primary areas of focus are:

o Violence against women and girls.
o Refugees and vulnerable migrants,
and
o The environment.

During the last 12 months, the Trust has continued to grow its portfolio of partners working to tackle violence against women and girls, with a particular focus on supporting specialist organisations led by, and working to support, black and minoritized women and girls.

The Trust’s website lists the following 4 investment themes:

o Social justice.
o Sustainable planet.
o Systems change,
and
o Vulnerable communities.

During the year ended 5th April 2023, the Trust awarded grants totalling £1,216,703 (2022: £801,939) to approximately 50 partners. Over 80% of all awards were part of multi-year commitments, and over 60% of partners received unrestricted funding.

Grants made ranged from under £25,000 to £60,000 (to the Social and Sustainable Capital Trust (SASC)).

Details of all grants awarded of over £25,000 are listed on page 16 of the Trust’s annual accounts. Pages 1 and 2 of the accounts provide useful background information about the Trust’s objectives and achievements.

The Trust can be contacted at any time to discuss a project or proposal. However, the Trust urges any agency to read its priorities and values carefully before making contact. Its staff work part time and are not able to respond to all enquiries.
