Previously known as Adullam Homes Limited, Adullam being a reference to the Trust’s Christian leanings, the Set Me Free Trust’s charitable objectives are:

o To provide for the advancement of Christianity, and
o To provide for the relief of persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress, and - in particular -  ex-offenders, drug addicts, alcoholics, the aged, those who are homeless, the sick and their dependents.

As a small, West Midlands grant-making Trust, Set Me Free focuses its grant making on the following areas:

o Birmingham City.
o Sandwell,
and
o Wolverhampton.

However, it will also support charities in Cornwall and Powys, Wales.

As part of a recent review of its activities, the Trust decided that, as it has limited funds to distribute at present, its focus would be to give predominately early years advice and support to 'green shoot' initiatives and organisations. Those with a predominately but not exclusively Christian advancement or community focus are preferred.

In addition, any funding provided would be based on potential and leverage situations where any amounts given would crystallise larger amounts of resources being awarded by other bodies or simply earned by them. Consideration is also made to offer support for church organisations that would face the possibility of cessation without the Trust's support.

Over the last couple of years, the Trust hasn’t posted its annual accounts with the Charity Commission as its income and expenditure was below the Commission’s threshold.

The last published accounts are for the year ended 31st March 2021. These show that the Trust awarded 5 grants totalling £5,013 (2020: 7 grants totalling £9,013). Grants made, which were a mixture or new and repeat awards, were for up to £2,500.

Further details of all awards made during the year can be found on pages 2 and 3 of the Trust’s annual accounts.

Please note that the Trust does not have a website. Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.

Applications may be made at any time in writing.
