Pub is the Hub is an organisation of specialist advisors for rural communities and licensees of rural pubs who are thinking of broadening their range of services. It believes and proactively advocates that local pubs should be the centre (or hub) of community life and can also provide essential services beyond their traditional use as a place to enjoy a drink.

Grants of up to £3,000 are available to help local communities, including licensees and pub owners, to diversify the use of pubs to provide local services and thereby retain the use of rural facilities.

In addition to financial support, Pub is the Hub provides voluntary advice and guidance with administration support from companies and trade bodies including: the Post Office, the British Beer and Pub Association, the British Institute of Innkeeping and the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The Community Services Fund, which can provide a grant of up to £3,000 ro help some projects move forward, is effectively a ‘fund of last resort’. Please note, however, that funding is not always available. Pub is the Hub’s main focus is on supporting the diversification of pubs in rural areas in England, Scotland and Wales through free advice and ongoing support. It will work with applicants to identify and secure grants from other sources.

Previous Pub is the Hub projects have included:

o Accommodating a Post Office within a pub.
o Providing a Community Hub.
o Providing a local shop to encouraging the local sourcing of products, providing local school meals,
and
o Providing church and faith based activities.

Requests for advice and support may be made at any time and are considered on an ongoing basis.

Further information is available on the Pub is the Hub website.
