THE PRINCE OF WALES’S CHARITABLE FUND SMALL GRANTS PROGRAMME

Revenue grants up to £5,000 are available to small, grassroots UK registered charities and charitable organisations working in the areas of the countryside, education, environment, health and wellbeing, heritage and conservation and social inclusion.

o Funder: The Prince of Wales Charitable Fund (founded 1979. Charity number 1127255. Total charitable expenditure for the year ended 31 March 2022: £9,923,000

(2021: £10,416,000)).

o Who can apply: UK registered charities and not-for-profit organisations with an annual income of under £1 million. Please note that applying organisations must have been active for at least 24 months and able to produce an annual report and set of annual accounts.

The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund Small Grants programme provides grants of up to £5,000 to for grassroots, community-based organisations across the UK with an annual income of under £1 million in the following areas:

1. Countryside - projects to support and sustain rural communities and to improve the prospects of viability for farm and rural businesses.
2. 
Education - education and training projects outside of The Prince's Trust scope and age-range, including support for people with special educational needs.
3. 
Environment - community environmental projects (including the circular economy), economic sustainability initiatives and conservation of the natural environment.
4. 
Health and Wellbeing - community projects and initiatives which support health and wellbeing of people with disabilities or life limiting illnesses in disadvantaged communities. Applications for respite care, young carers and complementary therapies would be considered.
5. 
Heritage and Conservation - conservation and restoration projects at places of worship. PWCF is interested in funding non-capital projects that improve the fabric of buildings for the benefit of local communities, and
6. 
Social Inclusion - community and art projects that aim to relieve poverty, loneliness and other social issues or support the welfare of the elderly, veterans and interfaith cohesion.

While grants up to £5,000 are available, awards are normally between £1,000 and £2,000. The Fund tends to prioritise applicants which have a connection with the Prince of Wales, for example as president or patron. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are President or Patron of over 500 organisations. A searchable list of charitable organisations that members of the royal family are patrons of can be found at this LINK to the GOV.UK website.

Funding is not available for:

o Capital expenditure, with the exception of community-based heritage conservation and restoration projects aimed at preserving the fabric of historic buildings.
o Individuals.
o Not-for-profit organisations which are part of a federation.
o Organisations that are looking to support similar projects delivered by the Prince of Wales's core charities - Prince's Foundation and The Prince's Trust.
o Organisations that mainly distribute grants to other organisations.
o Organisations with political associations or interest, 
or
o Public organisations.
