Small grants for averaging £576 are available for the core funding of UK registered charities working in the areas of animal welfare, the arts, education and training. the environment, healthcare, heritage and social welfare.

The Marsh Christian Trust, which has recently rebranded as The Marsh Charitable Trust, awards a large number of small grants to UK registered charities working in the areas of:

o Animal welfare.
o Arts.
o Education and training.
o Environmental causes.
o Healthcare.
o Heritage, 
and
o Social welfare.

The Trust specialises in providing long-term core funding for smaller charities. Grant awards can be used to cover running costs, including the maintenance of equipment, training and volunteer expenses.

The Trust also operates an awards programme which made 60 awards, which ranged from £300 to £7,500 last year. The Marsh Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of people who are committed to social, cultural and environmental causes.

Funding is not available for:

o Churches.
o Community interest companies (CICs).
o Hospices or hospitals.
o Individuals.
o Project costs, 
or
o Start-up costs.

Applications may be made at any time in writing. Please note that there is no standard application form. Applications must include:

o A cover letter (no longer than 1-2 sides), and
o A full set of the applying charity’s most recent Annual Report and Accounts

Applicants should also demonstrate that they have understood the type of funding which the Trust provides and illustrate how this would benefit their charity on a long-term basis.
