The KFC Foundation’s mission is to support young people across the UK to fulfil their potential. The Foundation aims to achieve this by funding work that addresses the needs of young people aged 11-25 through early intervention. Small grants are available to grassroots charitable organisations in areas where Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) outlets are located. A search function for local KFC restaurants can be found on the KFC website.
Grants of between £250 and £2,000 are available for activities and projects that:
o Benefit young people aged 11-25 years old.
o Empower all young people to fulfil their potential and build a positive future.
o Provide spaces that allow young people to feel safe and secure, helping to unlock talent and build life skills, provide mentoring, and improve their chances of gaining meaningful employment.
o Support those in a position of social disadvantage (i.e. care leavers, those experiencing homelessness, young carers, young parents, young people at risk of or with experience of the criminal justice system), and
o Will demonstrate positive results within 12 months of the receipt of funding.
Registered charities, Community Interest Companies, unincorporated clubs or associations or unregistered charities in the UK with a turnover of less than £300,000 that meet the following criteria may apply for a grant:
o Are local to a KFC restaurant (see search function above).
o Deliver services to one or more of the KFC Foundation’s target groups.
o Have a bank account in its own name with two unrelated signatories/dual authorisation.
o Have an active board of trustees or directors.
o Have a signed constitution/governing documents.
o Have a suitable safeguarding policy, and
o Have existed for at least 12 months at the time of submission.
The Foundation has stated that its ambition is to grow the programme to support an organisation in every community that KFC is represented in.
