Grants averaging just under £2,000 are available to registered charities for projects that advance the Christian faith among children and young people. Grants are also available to individuals for training in the ministry.

o Application deadline: applications from charities may be made at any time. Applicants are required to complete a pre-application questionnaire (available on the Trust’s website) in the first instance. Students and ministry trainees should apply by the Trust’s deadline of FRIDAY 31st MAY 2024.

The charitable objectives of the John James Charitable Trust are to:

o Promote the advancement of education in the Christian religion amongst children and young people, and in particular the advancement of physical education amongst children and young people so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities so that they can grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.
o The advancement of Christian religion by providing grants to those undertaking training for a specific ministry
o The relief of poverty, 
and
o The advancement of religion, promoting education and doing anything charitable for the benefit of the community.

The Trust pursues its objectives by

o Making grants to individuals and organisations to allow people to be trained in different areas of Christian ministry.
o By making grants to organisations working with children and young people, running schools programmes and youth clubs providing a place of support, activities and relaxation as well as an environment where the Christian faith is explained, 
and
o By making grants to parish churches and other organisations in deprived areas to support pastoral and support work amongst families in the context of which there is opportunity for individuals to explore the Christian faith.

The Trust prioritises proposals that:

o Are financially sustainable over a period of time.
o Are supported by the local church and wider network.
o Are unable to secure grant support from other sources.
o Can demonstrate how the project will “make a difference”.
o Make Christ known, 
and
o Show a long-term commitment for Christian ministry.

UK registered charities may apply at any time. The Trust has an annual deadline of the end of May for applications from ministry trainees and students. The next application deadline is therefore on Friday 31st May 2024.
