Environmental charity, the Hubbub Foundation has recently launched a “#InTheLoop” grant fund in partnership with the Coca-Cola Foundation. The £100,000 programme will provide 4 grants of up to £25,000 for innovative, ambitious and large-scale initiatives that will improve opportunities to recycle in public spaces close to waterways such as coastal areas, rivers, canals and wetlands. The Foundation is particularly keen to receive proposals that focus on recycling plastic bottles and cans. Projects that result in the recycling of coffee cups and glass are also welcomed.

The fund is designed to build on the successes and impact of the seven #InTheLoop campaigns and freely available toolkit, and Treasure Your River, the largest ever collaboration to reduce litter along five major UK rivers.

It is anticipated that the vast majority of #InTheLoop funding will go towards the purchase of infrastructure on new bins or improvements to old bins. Funding can also be used for:

o Costs associated with promotion and marketing, and
o Salaries (although funding is not available for core costs).

Apart from a grant of up to £25,000, each of the 4 successful applicants will receive additional support and advice from the Hubbub Foundation to help deliver their project. Successful applicants will be expected to share learning with the public and other organisations.

A wide range of agencies can apply to the fund, including not-for-profit organisations, local authorities, transport hubs, businesses and property owners.

Partnership/consortia bids are welcomed. However, only one proposal may be submitted per partnership/consortia (although a lead applicant for one proposal may be a partner in another application).

Further information, guidance and an online application form is available on the #InTheLoop website.

The application deadline is Thursday 15th December 2022.  Projects should be designed to start from Spring 2023.
