Generally, capital grants of up to £20,000 are available for the growth and development of sculpture across historical, modern and contemporary fields, and for research that expands the appreciation of sculpture.

o Application deadline: Applications open Wednesday 1st November 2023 at 9:00am with a deadline for applications of FRIDAY 1st DECEMBER 2023 at 11pm. Further application windows for 2024 are provided below.

o Who can apply: UK Art Galleries, Museums and Institutions concerned with Art and Art History, including UK Universities. UK higher education institutions may receive bursaries for post-graduate students.

o Key words: Sculpture, Visual Arts, Galleries, Museums, Art History, Universities, Research, Overseas, United Kingdom.

The Henry Moore Foundation supports a wide range of activities in the visual arts, particularly where this relates to sculpture, and welcomes grant applications for the support of exhibitions, exhibition catalogues, commissions, conferences, research, publications and the development of collections through acquisitions, conservation, cataloguing and display.

Funding is available under the following categories:

1. Acquisitions and Collections - the maximum grant is £20,000 but most grants are for significantly lower amounts.
2. 
Conferences, Lectures and Publications - the maximum grant available is £5,000.
3. 
New Projects and Commissions - the maximum grant is £20,000 but most grants are also for significantly lower amounts, and
4. Research and Development – particularly for (a) Long-term research. This is for organisations only. The maximum award is £20,000, although the majority of awards are for significantly lower amounts; and (b) Research and Travel. This fund is for academics, curators and scholars and offers a maximum award of £2,500.

Awards made during the year were categorised as:

Exhibitions and New Projects: £250,235 (2021: £252,703).
Collections: £94,500 (2021: £38,000).
Conferences, Publications and Workshops: £11,000 (2021: £7,000).  
Fellowships: £21,000 (2021: £42,000).
Research: £27,000 (2021: £90,000), and
Other: £0 (2021: £10,000).

Funding is not available for:

o Individual applicants (except for the Research and Travel Grant of up to £2,500).
o Projects dedicated to painting.
o Retrospective costs, 
or
o Revenue.

The next application window opens on Wednesday 1st November 2023 at 9am and has a deadline for applications of Friday 1st December 2023. Projects should start or open to the public no sooner than 1 April 2024.

Application deadlines for 2024 are:

1. WINTER 2024. Applications open at 9am on Thursday 1st February 2024 with a deadline for applications of 11pm on Friday 1st March 2024.  Projects should start or open to the public no sooner than 1 July 2024.

2. SPRING 2024. Applications open at 9am on Wednesday 1st May 2024 with a deadline for applications of 11pm on Saturday 1st June 2024.  Projects should start or open to the public no sooner than 1st October 2024.

3. SUMMER 2024. Applications open at 9am on Thursday 1st August 2024 with a deadline for applications of Sunday 1st September 2024. Projects should start or open to the public no sooner than 1st January 2025..
