The Freelands Foundation works to broaden access to art education and the visual arts across the UK. Through its education programmes, the Foundation works with teachers and educators to develop diverse and ambitious approaches to art education and support teaching as artistic practice. Each year the Foundation identifies a thematic funding focus within visual arts education.

The Autumn 2023 funding round invites applications for grants of £50,000 to £150,000 per year for up to 3 years from visual arts organisations with bold and innovative programmes that build collaborative relationships between schools and visual art organisations through projects that centre teachers within creative approaches to art education (funded projects must benefit UK based schools, teachers and students).

Grants are available for projects within a broad and flexible definition of visual arts so that, for example, organisations that include visual arts as part of their work, including heritage organisations and multi-arts organisations, may be considered for grant support.

Projects should be start during September 2024.

The application deadline for an Expression of Interest is midday (12 noon) on Monday 20th November 2023Successful applicants at the Expression of Interest stage will be invited to submit a full application.
