Wiltshire-based grant-making charity, the Douglas Arter Foundation makes small one-off project grants between £250 and £2,500 (but averaging around £550) to UK registered charities working the UK that are providing services for people of all ages with mental and physical disabilities.
When considering applications, the Foundation takes into account:
o The feasibility of the project concerned.
o The financial position of the applying charity.
o The funding already available to the charity.
o The number of beneficiaries, and
o What level of volunteer involvement and self-help contributes to the project.
There is no specific requirement for matched funding.

Funding is not available for:
o Core running or operational costs.
o Individuals,
o Major development costs, or
o Research costs.
Applications for grant support must be made by letter setting out in brief concise detail the clear objectives of the appeal, which must be for a specific project and should include:
o Details of funding already available.
o Details of self-help, and
o A timetable for the project, together with a copy of the applicant’s latest audited accounts.
