The CLA Charitable Trust provides one-off grants for specific projects or equipment. The Trust focuses its grant support on smaller charities where its grant can make a major contribution to a project’s success. Applications for projects and activities that benefit children and young people who are financially, physically and/or mentally disadvantaged, or are living in an area of deprivation are particularly welcomed.
Grants can be used to cover running costs, projects costs and capital works.
The overarching objectives of the Trust are:
o To promote education about the countryside for young people from towns and cities and those who are disadvantaged.
o To provide facilities for those who are disabled, who have learning difficulties or who are in some way disadvantaged to enjoy the benefits of the countryside, and
o To support the advancement of education in agriculture, horticulture and conservation for disadvantaged people, particularly the young.
Registered charities, registered companies, social enterprises and voluntary organisations based and working in England and Wales may apply for a grant. There is no stated matched funding requirement. However, applicants should not have received a grant from the Trust over the previous 3 years and will be expected to produce a current safeguarding policy.
Funding is not available for:
o Holidays that are not educational.
o Individuals, or
o Retrospective costs.
Further information, guidance and an application form is available on the Trust’s website.
The next 3 application deadlines are:
o Monday 6th February 2023 (applications will be reviewed by the Trust in March 2023).
o Monday 26th April 2023 (applications will be reviewed by the Trust in June 2023), and
