SUSTAIN FOOD FOR THE PLANET SMALL GRANTS PROGRAMME

Grants of up to £5,000 are available to any UK local food partnership, local authority or community group to make food in their local community better for people and the planet

o Who can apply: UK local food partnerships, local authorities, community organisations and campaign groups.

Sustain: the Alliance for Better Food and Farming has launched a new Food for the Planet Small Grants programme to support communities to campaign and advocate to make food in their area better for people and the planet.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available to local food partnerships, campaign groups, community organisations and local authorities.

Grants should be used to deliver projects which support communities to address food and climate injustice in their local area. Applicants are encouraged to propose their own ideas for local action, but should focus on areas that have a big impact locally, for example by (please note that this is not an exclusive list):

o Encouraging climate-friendly food in public institutions and council settings.
o Improving your council's score in the 
“Every Mouthful Counts” report and/or developing a food strategy.
o Supporting groups and communities that are marginalised to campaign for food climate justice and tackling racial injustice in the food system.
o Supporting sustainable farming systems through planning policy, 
and/or
o Tackling unfair and unhelpful pricing and advertising of the most climate-damaging foods.

Sustain has scheduled a free online Introductory Workshop for 2-3pm on Wednesday 18th January 2023 for organisations interested in applying to the programme.  Registration for the workshop can be made at this LINK.

The deadline for applications to the programme is Friday 10th February 2023 at 5pm.
