New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) has opened two separate funds in the financial hardship sector, aimed at relieving and reducing financial hardship in the UK during the cost-of-living crisis. The funds have been designed by panellists participating in NPC’s Open Philanthropy Programme. You can find out more about the programme at this link to the NPC website. Both funding streams (named "A" and "B" - see below) are unrestricted, but must be used to address financial hardship as a response to the current cost of living crisis. Organisations can propose what they would like to do with the funding.
The NPC’s Open Philanthropy Funds - Tackling Financial Hardship Funds provide the following two grant strands:
1. The Tackling Financial Hardship Fund (A) is a one-off funding cycle awarding £250,000 in grants to relieve and reduce financial hardship in the UK, with a specific focus on supporting:
o Asylum seekers.
o Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities.
o Single parent households.
o Those with experience of domestic violence.
o Women and Girls, and
o Young people.
Grants of up to £15,000 are available to charities and community groups (unregistered or registered) with a turnover of less than £100,000. Please note, however, that organisations who do not meet this eligibility criteria may still apply with an explanation of why they should be considered for grant support.
2. The Tackling Financial Hardship Fund (B) is a one-off funding cycle awarding £125,000 in grants to relieve and reduce financial hardship in the UK, with a specific focus on supporting:
o Asylum seekers and those with no recourse to public funds (NRPF).
o Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
o People with disabilities.
o Single parent households, and
o Young people.
Grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 will be offered to charities and community groups (unregistered or registered) with a turnover of less than £200,000.

The deadline for applications to both Fund A and Fund B is 5pm on Friday 16th December 2022, with successful applicants expected to be notified in February 2023.
