MAGIC LITTLE GRANTS 2023

One-off grants of up to £500 are available for small, local community groups and charities, including Community Interest Companies, in England, Scotland and Wales for projects in the areas of the arts, physical activity, biodiversity, environmental sustainability, green spaces, improving community access to outdoor space, mental health and wellbeing, the relief of poverty and support for marginalised groups.

o Application deadline: The Magic little Grants programme for 2023 opens on Wednesday 1st March 2023 with a deadline for applications of TUESDAY 31st OCTOBER 2023. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the end of October.

o Funder: The People’s Postcode Lottery. The programme is being administered by localgiving.

o Who can apply: registered charities with either the Charity Commission for England & Wales or Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs), Community Interest Companies (CICs), other forms of social enterprise, other forms of not-for-profit organisations, and charitable organisations that are schools or connected to schools with an annual income of under £250,000.

The priorities for 2023’s Magic Little Grants programme, which will reopen on Wednesday 1st March following an enormously popular 2022 programme, are to:

o Enable participation in the arts.
o Enable participation in physical activity.
o Improve biodiversity and to respond to the climate emergency.
o Improve green spaces and increase access to the outdoors.
o Prevent or reduce the impact of poverty.
o Provide support to improve mental health, 
and/or
o Support marginalised groups and tackling inequality.

Grants of up to £500, with no matched funding requirement, are available for new projects, to support existing projects or for core operational costs. 

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Be eligible to join Localgiving by
o Having a UK bank account in the group’s name.
o Having charitable aims that are not solely for the advancement of religion, and
o Operating on local/regional community initiatives and not be a national charity.

2. Have an annual income under £250,000 or be in their first year of operation.

Funding is not available for:

o Activities focused on professional sports or physical arts where the participating athletes/performers are being paid.
o Activities using gardening projects to deliver physical activity.
o Groups and projects in Northern Ireland.
o Medical equipment that supports the delivery of physical activities.
o Medical treatment.
o National groups.
o Organisations that have previously been funded by a Magic Little Grant or the players of People's Postcode Lottery and have not finished the project/activity.
o Organisations that have previously delivered a project funded by a Magic Little Grant or the players of People's Postcode Lottery and have not completed their monitoring/evaluation form, 
or
o Overseas travel.

Eligible applicants should initially register with or log in to their localgiving account, where the application process and form will become available.

The programme opens to applications on Wednesday 1st March 2023 with a final deadline of Tuesday 31st October 2023. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the final deadline date. Organisations are limited to making just one application each year.
