GROW WILD YOUTH PROJECT GRANTS

Grants of up to £500 are available for young people aged 14-25 across the United Kingdom to carry out creative projects that celebrate UK native plants and fungi in exciting and engaging ways.

o Funder: The Foundation and Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (founded 1990. Charity number 803428. Total charitable expenditure during the year ended 31 March 2023: £3,581,000).

o Who can apply: individual young people aged 14-25 via a supporting organisation. Supporting organisations can be any form of not-for-profit agency, such as an arts group, registered charity, voluntary and community group, youth club, school, local authority, health authority or university.

The Grow Wild Youth Project Grants programme provides awards of up to £500 for young people aged 14-25 across the UK for projects that:

1. Focus on a wide range of UK native plants and/or fungi.
2. Get other people involved in some way and aim to share the project with at least 100 people (this can include using online channels).
3. Have a ‘wow-factor’, be original and come up with something exciting, 
and
4. Make good use of the £500 grant.

Grants of up to £500 can cover the cost of everything required for a project, including equipment, training and materials. Projects can start from Wednesday 1st May 2024 and should be completed by Thursday 31st October 2024.

Eligible applicants must:

1. Be aged 14-25 years old and live in the UK.
2. Have a great idea for a project, 
and
3. Have a not-for-profit supporting organisation, such as a registered charity, voluntary and community group, youth club, school, health authority or university to help deliver the project. Supporting organisations must be able to:
o Provide a member of staff or volunteer to liaise with Grow Wild.
o Support the young person as required – for example, by providing access to facilities and equipment, publicity of activities, or advice and guidance,
 and
o Be financially responsible for the project with a bank account in the organisation's name or in the name of the local authority or other public sector body where relevant.

Funding is not available for:

o Organisations with a solely commercial purpose.
o Private businesses that operate for profit and have no social purpose,
 or
o Salaries.

To apply, young people aged 14-25 are required to:

1. Make a short video application on their phone or camera and upload it securely to the Grow Wild website, and
2. Complete the online application form and include a link to their video.
