Funding opportunity for BAME organisations in Mid, North & West Wales

COVID 19 Recovery Support Fund for BAME Community Groups in Wales

Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Pembrokeshire, Powys, and Wrexham

Application Deadline: 12 midday 31st May 2023

A growing body of data, including data from ONS shows that people who are Black, Asian and from minority ethnic (BAME) groups have been disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. BAME-led organisations have and still are playing a pivotal role in ensuring that vital emergency support reaches those from these hard-hit communities. This fund has been created to support those organisations that are led by and supporting Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) families and communities across Wales to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

*Please note that we define a BAME-led organisation under the following terms issued by the Race Equalities Funders Alliance:
• The organisation’s mission and purpose is to benefit BAME communities.
• The majority of the leadership (i.e. at least half** of the senior team and the Trustee board) are from the BAME community(ies) that it serves

This fund is currently only open to BAME-led groups working in West, North and Mid Wales. This fund has been opened previously to groups across Wales. We have received and have funded a number of projects across South Wales but have had very little interest from groups working in West, Mid and North Wales. In this round therefore applications from groups based in South Wales will NOT be eligible.

**We recognise that due to nature of dispersed communities in the less populated towns and villages in these areas, it’s more difficult to run organisations that are fully BAME-led, particularly in terms of 50% of the leadership team, (staff and trustees) coming from BAME communities. Therefore, we will still consider your application if you don’t meet this criteria, but will likely ask further questions about how you ensure the work of the organisation is both informed by and focussed on, those from BAME backgrounds. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please contact Claire Buckley our Grants Officer to discuss further.
