Grants are available for health, science, learning and community-based projects carried out by UK Healthcare Organisations or Charitable Institutions.

AbbVie Limited provides grants to organisations and charitable institutions in the UK healthcare sector in the areas of:

o Community-based projects.
o Health.
o Learning, 
and
o Science.

AbbVie grants vary in size and do not have a minimum or maximum level. Grants can be used to support a diversity of projects.

The following types of organisation may apply for grant support:

1. Charitable Institutions: any not-for-profit institution which does not fulfil the definition of a healthcare organisation.
2. Healthcare organisations: healthcare, medical or scientific associations or organisations such as a hospital, clinic, foundation, university or other teaching institution or learned society whose business address, place of incorporation or primary place of operation is in Europe or an organisation through which one or more health professionals or other relevant decision-makers provide services.

Project proposals from healthcare organisations must be able to demonstrate how the funding will either advance medical education or science, or contribute to improvements in the quality of healthcare/patient care.

Funding is not available for:

o Activities that occurred in the past.
o Applications exclusively linked to the use of AbbVie products.
o Application forms completed with the input or influence of an AbbVie employee.
o Charity fundraising outside of the UK.
o Clinical research, including Investigator Initiated Studies.
o Funding of start-up or operating costs of entities (ie resources used by an organisation to exist such as payment of rent for the office space, staff salary, or cost of electricity).
o Grants to individual healthcare professionals or commercial businesses.
o Healthcare Professionals individual training or development opportunities.
o Political party sponsorship.
o Religious programmes, 
or
o Travel grants to Healthcare Professionals to attend scientific conferences.

While applications may be made at any time, AbbVie only considers requests for grant support between February and October annually. Applications received outside of this timeframe are taken forward to the following February.
