Peter, after an initial career in brewing, hotels & restaurants has been involved in the agriculture sector, spending over 40 years farming in Montgomeryshire as well as being director of various agricultural marketing co-operatives and a member of Wales Agricultural Board.  He also found time to undertake a range of public and voluntary sector appointments. He was a Justice of the Peace for more than thirty years, serving as Chair of the Bench for four years. He served as a member of Dyfed Powys Health Authorities for eight years and chaired the Authority during that time.

Having an interest in education he has is a primary school governor, has been Governor of Coleg Powys, Board Member of Powys Training and Enterprise Council and the Powys Agricultural Training Committee. Peter is a private rental landlord in Newtown and was appointed as a Member of Mid-Wales Housing Association in 2012 and has been Chair of the Board since 2017. He is currently Chair of South West Shropshire Learning Trust, Board Member of Care and Repair in Powys and a Trustee of Citizen’s Advice Powys.
