THE VETERANS’ FOUNDATION

Various grants of up to £75,000 over 1,2 or 3 years are available to charitable organisations, including Community Interest Companies, that are providing lifetime support to those in need among serving Armed Forces and Seafaring personnel, veterans and their immediate families in England, Scotland and Wales.

Application deadlines: TUESDAY 30th JULY 2024 for applications to the Standard Grants and Salary Grants programme.

o Who can apply: registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, including community groups and Community Interest Companies (CICs) that are supporting the Armed Forces community in England, Scotland and Wales.

The Veterans’ Foundation provides a range of grants up to £200,000 to £40,000 for small to medium sized not-for-profit organisations in England, Scotland and Wales, including registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs) and community groups that are directly involved in the provision of support to those in need in the Armed Forces and the Seafaring community.

The following grants are available:

1. Standard Grants from £5,001 – £30,000.

2. Salary Grants of up to £25,000 per year for up to 3 years (i.e. the maximum award available Is £75,000)

The next deadlines for submission of Standard and Salary Grant applications are:

1. Tuesday 30th July 2024 for a decision in September 2024.
2. Tuesday 15th October 2024 for a decision in December 2024, 
and
3. Tuesday 28th January 2025 for a decision in March 2025

4. Small Grants from £500 – £5,000. This will be a rolling programme with no closing dates. The Small Grants programme isn’t currently open to applications but is expected to be introduced in June2024.

The Foundation may expect applicants to have a degree of matched funding in place prior to applying, particularly from eligible organisations with a limited track record of successful delivery.

During the year ended 30th June 2023, the Foundation awarded 230 grants totalling £4,987,000 (2022: 202 grants totalling £4,433,071). Eligible organisations may make more than one application as all applications are assessed on their individual merits.

Funding is not available for:

o Any for-profit activities.
o Fundraising activities.
o Gap years.
o Housing associations and corporations, unless activities and costs are clear and charitable.
o Organisations requiring payments to be sent to accounts outside the UK.
o Organisations that do not support the Armed Forces or seafaring communities.
o Sponsorship, 
or
o Study trips.
