The Triangle Trust 1949 Fund holds two grants rounds each year. As with 2024, during 2025 both of the Trust’s funding rounds have focused on work with young women and girls who have been in the criminal justice system or who are at a high risk of entering it.
The Spring 2025 funding round has a focus on organisations working with young people who already have a criminal conviction, while the Autumn 2025 funding round is targeted at organisations working with high-risk young people on the edge of the criminal justice system.
Please note that only eligible organisations led by and for women and girls are eligible to apply for this grants round.
The Trust offers grants of up to £80,000 over a 2-year period. The maximum amount available per year is £40,000. Grants are for project costs rather than core funding.
The Trust is particularly interested in proposals that:
o Demonstrate that they understand the wide range of challenges that need to be addressed to help young women and girls succeed after being released from a Young Offenders Institution or prison.
o Have specific outcomes and targets related to individual development, health and well-being, employability, education, and social cohesion, and/or
o Show evidence that work with young women and girls who have been in the criminal justice system is already taking place and can demonstrate a track record of helping them to achieve positive outcomes.
During the year ended 31st March 2024, the Trust awarded 44 grants totalling £1,033,100
(2023: 50 grants totalling £841,336; 2022: 32 grants totalling £558,800; 2021: 43 grants totalling £792,754).
A list of all grant recipients during the year can be viewed on pages 22-23 of the Trust’s Annual Report.
The application process has two stages.
1. Following the submission of an initial online application, it will be reviewed by the Trust’s staff team.
2. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to host an assessment visit with the Trust’s Director. This is an opportunity to find out more about the work you do and the project you would like the Trust to support.
Further information, guidance, an Eligibility Checklist and an online application form is available on the Trust’s website.
The first deadline in 2025 for initial outline applications is on Thursday 22nd May 2025. Applicants are expected to be notified by the beginning of July 2025.
A second application round (the Autumn 2025 funding round) is scheduled to open on Tuesday 16th October 2025 with a deadline of Tuesday 28th October 2025.
