You may be aware the Cllr Joy Jones (Anti-Poverty Champion, Powys County Council) has secured the Knife Angel to visit Powys for 28 days from 4 th January 2020. The Knife Angel is the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression; and has been sculpted out of knives that have been surrendered to/or seized by police forces throughout the UK. During its time in Powys, the Knife Angel will be placed outside of the Oriel Davies Gallery in Newtown. Newtown and Powys will be the first place in Wales to host the ‘Knife Angel’, and it aims to raise awareness of violence and aggression; and give an opportunity for people to take a stand against violence in their communities.
As part of the Knife Angel’s visit, Cllr Joy Jones is coordinating 28 days of activities at the Park in Newtown. Any organisations based in Powys who would like to undertake some activities near to the Knife Angel during this period, should contact Cllr Joy Jones at cllr.joy.jones(at)powys.gov.uk. All individuals and groups throughout Powys are encouraged to see the Knife Angel whilst it is in Powys.
