Responding to Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Powys Teaching Health Board

A personal message from Carol Shillabeer - Chief Executive Powys Teaching Health Board

I would like to extend my personal thanks to Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations for everything you are doing to support, advise and inform your communities during this challenging time.

Thank you also to everyone across Powys – health and care staff, volunteers, essential workers, communities, local businesses, partner organisations – for your continued response to the challenges of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Thank you also to everyone across Powys – health and care staff, volunteers, essential workers, communities, local businesses, partner organisations – for your continued response to the challenges of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • Stay Home Save Lives: We all share a responsibility to reduce the spread of infection
  • Self Care, Families and Support: We are supporting people to maintain their health and wellbeing
  • Powys Primary Care: We are enabling local access to health and care within your local communities, including rapid assessment for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • Powys Community Care: We are increasing the beds and skills in Powys to provide local care, to reduce the need for acute hospital care, and to support people to return from acute hospital quickly and safely
  • Acute and Specialist Care Partnerships: We have strong relationships with neighbouring hospitals for access to acute and specialist care for the people of Powys

In this bulletin, I make no apologies for repeating the guidance on Stay Home Save Lives. It is the single most important step in the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19).

But I also want to focus on a number of areas which I know have been on the minds of the people of Powys:

  • Preparing our community hospitals and community teams
  • A reminder that services remain OPEN
  • National plans for expanding testing and for PPE

I will keep you updated through these regular bulletins, and I thank everyone for your patience, support and compassion as we all find our way through this

Your sincerely, Carol Shillabeer, Chief Executive, Powys Teaching Health Board
