Development Officer: Volunteering

Due to a staff secondment we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and flexible team player to join us and make a real difference to support volunteering in Powys.
This role will involve providing a comprehensive range of volunteering services to individuals and organisations to facilitate & strengthen volunteering and promote good practice
Job Purpose
To provide a comprehensive range of volunteering services:
- Contributing to the overall development, improvement and delivery of activities provided by the Volunteer Centre in Powys
- Co-ordinating support for volunteering activity, mainly through the Powys Volunteer Centre, to all voluntary and community groups engaged in volunteering within Powys
Raising the profile of volunteering within the county through providing good quality volunteering information as well as supporting volunteers
Key Responsibilities
Focus on Volunteering:
- Co-ordinate Powys Volunteer Centre service delivery working with Delivery Partners
- Provide support for volunteers and volunteer involving organisations
- Provide expertise to promote good practice in volunteering.
Also to contribute to provision of Development Support to Powys Third Sector
- Provide general information, guidance and mentoring, to support third sector organisations to achieve their objectives and develop their effectiveness
- Provide support to develop new projects and initiatives which meet local needs
- Provide funding support
- Provide trustee and governance support
- Promote PAVO services including chargeable services
- Provide advice and support on citizen engagement to local groups and organisations
- Identify gaps in provision through partnerships, networks, members and other intelligence sources
- Lead / co-ordinate local developments
- Investigate scope for local provider consortia and establish, where appropriate
- Contribute to the overall development and improvement of the service
