The Charles Hayward Foundation’s Heritage and Conservation Grants Programme is designed to make larger grants to projects of a unique nature and of national importance.
The programme’s focus is on protecting, restoring and interpreting past inventions, discoveries, industrial sites and defining moments that have shaped the UK’s history and identity, and displaying them in a modern context for public engagement, use and learning.
Funding is available for projects in the following categories:
o Conservation and preservation of pictures, manuscripts, books and objects for public display, use and interest.
o Development of libraries, museums and galleries, and
o Adaptation of former Industrial Heritage sites to creative and educational spaces
The Foundation will fund a select number of one-off projects with a grant of up to £50,000.
Funding is not available for:
o Academic institutions
o Animal rescue.
o Art and history workshops.
o Building repairs.
o Churches.
o Community arts centres and programmes.
o Conservation of gardens.
o Environmental conservation & endangered species.
o Heritage Railways, or
o Opera, ballet and theatre; including artistic productions.
To apply, eligible organisations are invited to submit a proposal (no more than four A4 pages in length) by email. The email should include the information listed in the “How to Apply” section of the Foundation’s webpages about the Heritage and Conservation Grants Programme.
The deadline for applications is Friday 4th November 2022.
This deadline also applies to the Foundation’s other Main Grant programmes of:
o Older people.
o Overseas, and
o Social and Criminal Justice.
