Previously known as the Allchurches Trust, the Benefact Trust provides a number of grant programmes, including:
o Brighter Lives – for projects that make a difference to people’s mental health.
o General Grants – for projects that support the church and community.
o Heritage Skills for Christian Buildings Grants – for project that care for Christian heritage, and
o Methodist Grants – for initiatives that enhance the mission and the ministry of the Methodist Church.
The Trust’s Roof Alarm Grants programme was originally designed to help prevent the theft of valuable metals from church buildings. Grants are available to cover the cost of purchasing a church roof alarm, providing the proposed system alarm must be from a supplier that is approved by the church’s insurer and the church must commit to maintaining the alarm for at least 3 years.
Christian churches across the UK may apply for a grant of up to £ 2,500 or up to 50% of the cost of purchasing a security alarm system
Funding is not available for:
o Charities with a political association.
o Multiple applications from the same organisation within 24 months.
o Non-Christian charities.
o Overseas projects, or
o Projects that benefit only a small part of a community.
