Since its foundation in 2014, the Foodbank has fed increasing numbers of people, and in 2018 fed 553 people, including 154 children. Food and other essential items are all generously donated by schools, churches, businesses, community groups and individuals in Brecon and the surrounding area, and without these donations they would not be able to operate. But at the same time they need to raise funds as well, to cover their running costs. The Food Bank auction is being supported by local artists, who have kindly donated a variety of different works. Other lots have been gifted by individuals; these include an original work Meg Stevens, two originals by Pip Woolf, and a numbered print by Sir Kyffin Williams. Ardent Gallery and Sable and Hogg have also donated items.
A catalogue can be viewed on-line here, and bids can also be placed by e-mail via the catalogue until 5pm on Thursday, 24th October; please follow the instructions in the catalogue. Viewing opens at The Neuadd, Christ College on Saturday 26th at 5.45pm, and the auction will begin at 7.00pm. Tickets cost £5, which includes a first drink and light refreshments, and entry to the raffle. With live music by Mike Chappell during the viewing, it promises to be a truly enjoyable evening. So please do come along on the evening and support the foodbank, or if you can’t, bid for a picture beforehand on-line!
