Minimum Pricing for Alcohol Consequences.

Last year Welsh government announced plans to introduce a minimum price per unit of alcohol. The potential for people to switch from alcohol to another from of substance misuse is a factor for consideration. Please see important workshops below for more information.

During 2019, Figure 8 Consultancy (in partnership with the University of South Wales and Glyndwr University, Wrexham) were commissioned by Welsh Government to undertake a research study to investigate the potential for drinkers to switch substances as a result of Minimum Pricing for Alcohol. As you will be aware, the research was published by Welsh Government in earlier in the autumn. The research team are now in the process of running a series of FREE dissemination events across Wales to promote the findings of the research and help to raise awareness of the forthcoming implementation of MPA to help services make preparations.
