Carers Wales Statement & Support Request
" We want a society that respects, values and supports carers. We do this by:
- Campaigning for improved carers rights and lasting positive change
- Giving expert advice, information and support
- Innovating to find new ways support carers through digital and tech development
We continually seek carer input into our work and the work of other organisations to ensure that carers have their say and can influence and shape services intended for them. We believe that this has become increasingly important as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the likely knock-on impacts on carers’ lives.
Over the next three years, we will be increasing our focus on mobilising carers across Wales to have more voice and control over carer-related policy and services. For example:
- Supporting carers to share their experience of caring
- Supporting carers to take up carer representational roles on boards, committees, task and finish groups etc
- Involvement in local consultations which may have an impact on carers (e.g. carers strategy, well-being strategy, population needs assessments, service commissioning and consultations)
- Creating opportunities for carers to have direct contact and influence politicians, service commissioners and officials
We will be providing a range of support for carers who would like to get involved.
We would really like to work with you on the work I’ve outlined above, such as:
- Identifying what sorts of opportunities are available in your area for carers to be involved
- Identifying carers who may like to get involved
- Promoting the work we will be doing
We would welcome the opportunity to have a chat with you about this work and the ways we could work together."
Please contact Beth Evans from Carers Wales if you're interested in discussing this further.
