Disabled People's Employment Champion Needed

This key new role of a Disabled People’s Employment Champion will join a wider network of Champions, who, through their roles, will advocate for the employment of disabled people, promoting the social model of disability.

The post holders will work actively with employers across Wales to increase awareness of the availability of talent and skills provided by disabled people, to help adapt their recruitment practices for their workforce, and to show them how to effectively access the support which is available to help disabled people into work. They will provide independent balanced advice, offering expertise, helping employers attract disabled applicants, remove barriers in the workplace and enable disabled employees to realise their potential and use their talent to deliver business benefits.Dedicated support for Small and Medium Enterprises will be available via the Business Wales service and the post-holder(s) will need to work hand in hand with the service to ensure businesses they engage with are aware of the support available.

We are looking to recruit 3 post-holders - one post holder per region for the following regions North Wales, Mid and South West Wales and South East Wales.

Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for disabled people to fill these roles.

Please complete an expression of interest which should be no longer than 2 sides of A4, demonstrating why you feel you would be suitable for the position and highlighting your previous experience; it should also address how you meet the three job specific criteria as outlined in the job description. Please send your expression of interest to melanie.james(at)gov.wales  no later than 5pm on 3 March 2020.

You will be contacted by email regarding the outcome of the sift. Should you be successful at this stage, you will be invited to an interview at one of our regional centres:
