Invitation to attend the PHW COVID-19 Disability Forum

Wednesday, 15 July from 2pm-3pm on Microsoft Teams.

Public Health Wales is seeking to better understand how COVID-19 has affected disabled people and how we can improve the resources we provide, including our website.

To facilitate this, we encourage you to join our online forum on Wednesday, 15 July from 2pm-3pm on Microsoft Teams.

The aim of this forum is to give disabled people a voice when it comes to the work we produce to support their wellbeing. This will support the work we do during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond . This will help us understand the issues we need to be discussing and the types of images, video or online and offline content we should be creating.

It will also help us understand the best way to share this information with others.

How to register: Simply email helen.green5(at)wales.nhs.uk (additional sessions or provisions are being arranged for people with specific access needs, please get in touch for more info). A British Sign Language Interpreter will be present at the session.

Please note that this is intended to be an opportunity for disabled people, or people working with disabled people, to feedback and share their insight. To ensure we are able to get a broad mix of voices from across Wales we would be grateful if you could share this invite with your networks where relevant.

To help with the conversation we have some exercises we would like you to do before the meeting.

To complete these exercises you will need to visit the How Are You Doing website here: https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/latest-information-on-novel-coronavirus-covid-19/how-are-you-doing/

  • Exercise 1: Have a general look around the website- note down what you like and what you don’t like.
  • Also think about what you would like to see included.
  • Exercise 2: Locate the Easy Read Materials - note down how easy or difficult it was to find them
  • Exercise 3: Locate the BSL information - note down how easy or difficult it was to find it.
  • Exercise 4: Try using the different Recite Me functions. How easy was it to use?

There is no need to reply with answers to these questions as we will cover these during the forum.

Please see below a rough agenda for the discussion. Below we have also included some video conference etiquette we would like people to follow during the forum.
