Carers Leave Consultation

Please respond to Government consultation, and complete the survey, to ensure working carers have a new right to take carer's leave

Welsh Government is currently consulting on its plans to introduce Carer’s Leave for employees in paid employment.

The introduction of Carer’s Leave would be a vital step in helping people who are working alongside their caring responsibilities, and is an issue that Carers UK have repeatedly raised. The consultation presents a really important opportunity to improve the rights of working carers.

To ensure the outcome of this consultation is positive for unpaid carers, your help is needed in:

(1) Submitting an individual response to the consultation, as a carer, by 3 August.

(2) Completing this survey, to help Carers UK understand how having a right to take Carer’s Leave from work would impact on you, as someone who is, or has previously, juggled work and care at the same time.

Respond to the Government’s consultation on Carer’s Leave:

The deadline for responding to this consultation is 3 August 2020:

To help you respond, Carers UK have created two separate briefing documents:

Whilst it is vital that individual carers respond to the consultation directly, we would also be very grateful if you would also be willing to share your views with Carers UK directly, about how a right to take Carer’s Leave would improve your ability to balance caring unpaid whilst being in work.

Carers UK want to understand in detail how this would affect your life, ability to work and impact on your caring responsibilities. They will be using this information in their own consultation response, and as they continue to campaign for more rights for working carers. The survey only takes about 10 minutes to complete (the perfect amount of time to have a cup of tea!). You can access the survey by clicking here!

Any comments you provide would not be identified as yours unless you give Carers UK permission to contact you and there's an agreement from you to do so. Your details will never be passed on to a third party. For more information, please see their privacy notice.
