What is the Trusted Charity Mark?
The Trusted Charity Mark is the externally assessed award for Trusted Charity users which demonstrates achievement of the Trusted Charity standards. This nationally recognised award offers both users and funders/commissioners external verification of the quality and credibility of an organisation.
From recent research NCVO has listened to feedback and changed the quality mark formerly known as PQASSO to TRUSTED CHARITY MARK.
The quality mark will cover charity governance, staff and volunteer management and creating user-centred services. If you wish to apply you MUST be a registered charity. It shows a commitment to good governance and operations and aims to be a recognised accreditation which demonstrates high standards.
The assessment consists of two processes:
- Implementation through self-assessment
(£150 for organisations who have under 25 full time staff)
- An external assessment and award (costs below)
Full-time equivalent members of staff | Level 1 | Level 2 |
0 to 5 | £1,800 | £2,700 |

Once you have completed the Trusted Charity Mark assessment, you will be able to:
- improve the way you work – providing a better quality of service to those that rely on your organisation.
- have more efficient organisational systems and procedures – freeing up much needed time and energy to focus on what really matters to you and your organisation.
- engage your whole organisation – involving everyone in the process of improving the way you work will bring fresh ideas, new ways of working and a renewed commitment to the changes you bring about.
- provide greater credibility and legitimacy – reassuring beneficiaries, supporters, donors, volunteers and staff who want to know that your organisation is well run, accountable and transparent.
- commit to organisational learning and continuous improvement – rather than a ‘one off’ process, you will be supported to regularly review progress against defined Trusted Charity indicators.
