Voting is now open to choose the first WeCare Wales award winner

The award is part of the Accolades, awards that are organised by Social Care Wales that recognise, celebrate and share excellent social care and early years in Wales.

• The WeCare Wales award is new for 2020 and is the first time the Accolades have recognised and celebrated individual care workers.
• The award is aimed at paid care workers or volunteers who work in social care or early years in Wales, who make a positive difference to people’s lives and help them achieve what matters to them.
• More than 70 care workers were nominated for the award and a panel of four judges whittled the nominees down to five finalists.

We are now asking members of the public to vote for the care worker they think should win the first WeCare Wales award.

Voting is open until Friday, 16 October 2020 and the winner will be announced at a virtual Accolades awards ceremony on Tuesday, 10 November 2020.

Sue Evans, Social Care Wales’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re pleased to announce the five care workers who’ve been chosen by our panel of judges as finalists for the first-ever Accolade for individual care workers.

“We know there is excellent care being provided across Wales and that many workers go above and beyond their duties.

“These five finalists reflect some of the breadth of exceptional care that is being provided in Wales and I’d like to congratulate them all on reaching the final.

“The public vote is open until 16 October, so please get involved by casting your vote and helping us choose which of these fantastic care workers should be crowned the first-ever WeCare Wales Award winner.”
