The Opportunity
What do we need in our communities?
to make them healthy
supportive, rich and varied places to live and work
both now and into the future.
Locality Networks
There are 13 Locality Networks in Powys, run by Community Connectors from Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO). They are forums to discuss local needs and promote collaboration in the development of services that meet those needs.
The 13 Localities : base town plus surrounding areas
Llanfyllin | Brecon | Welshpool & Montgomery |
Newtown | Llanfair Caereinion | Builth and Llanwrtyd Wells |

Take the Initiative:
The Localities Initiative wants to link up local ideas and priorities with a £260,000 injection of funds across Powys. This funding will enable communities to prioritise initial investment in projects that build local capacity, unlock future development potential and reduce barriers to participation.
Possible examples
business plans & feasibility studies,
short pilot projects
new collaborative development structures / social enterprises to deliver local health and well-being services
maximising the potential of digital technology within communities and community buildings
establishing new volunteering opportunities
developing plans and activities aimed at moving to a low carbon economy (community growing, woodlands, recycling, transport).
Cultural and Tourism development that contributes to 'sense of place' and the local tourism offer
The Localities Initiative provides an excellent opportunity to kick-start the process of recovery and build community resilience to future challenges across Powys.
If your local community organisation, community council or business sector is not currently represented on a Locality Network - then please contact us today.
‘This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund.’
