Mid Wales supporting COP26 and COP Cymru

Four COP26 Regional events will be held in Wales as part of COP Cymru to support the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow.

COP Cymru is a series of events that provide an opportunity for stakeholders and everyone in Wales to engage in important conversations about climate change starting with the launch of the new Net Zero Wales Plan today (28 October) where Ministers will set out the next stage in the Welsh pathway (2021 to 2025) to net zero by 2050.

The regional events, which include one in Mid Wales at the Centre for Alternative Technology, near Machynlleth, will coincide with dates and themes at the Glasgow event and broadcast to a virtual audience.

Content for the four roadshow events will be shaped by people from across Wales, highlighting relevant examples of best practice and ensuring participants are engaging in important conversations around the key COP themes.

Mid Wales will be hosting the Nature Based Solutions event on Saturday 6th November.  This will be a virtual event live streamed from CAT’s Technology Conference Centre showcasing projects across Wales.

The event, which will include an introduction from Powys County Council’s leader, Councillor Rosemarie Harris, will be a series of short presentations, panel discussions and case studies from Powys based projects. The showcased projects include Home-Grown Homes, the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust and the Black Mountains Land Use Partnership.
