COVID Autumn Booster Programme

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has advised that people who were vaccinated earlier in the COVID-19 vaccination programme should be offered a booster dose of the vaccine.

The booster programme, which has now begun, will help to improve protection in those most at risk of severe infection from COVID-19. The priority groups are:

  • Those living in residential care homes for older adults
  • All adults aged 50+
  • Frontline health and social care workers
  • People aged 16-49 with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19, and adult carers
  • Adult (aged 16+) household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals

If you are eligible for a booster dose of the vaccine, please wait to be invited. Your health board will contact you when it’s your turn. Please do not contact your GP to ask about COVID-19 vaccination appointments.

The vaccine continues to be the best way to prevent serious illness from COVID-19, and every eligible adult is urged to take up the offer of a booster vaccine to keep themselves safe this winter.
