Comic Relief grants - deadline of 31st October is fast approaching!

What is it?

Comic Relief and Third Sector Support Wales (TSSW) recognise the great work that community led organisations do across Wales and want to help organisations to build their own capacity in a sustainable and impactful way.

Two types of grants will be available:

  • Small grants £1,000 – £10,000
  • Large grants (for organisational growth) £30,000 – £60,000

The application window  is open from 22 July 2019 and the closing date  is 31 October 2019. 

The earliest projects can begin is the 1 January 2020

Projects should be completed by 31 March 2021.

Who and what will it fund?

Organisations with a socially focused purpose and an income of less than £250,000 are eligible to apply. There is £1,350,000 available in total grants.

  1. Large grants – organisational growth

The aim of the grants for organisational growth is to give organisations the chance to make a strategic impact and to increase resilience, for example

  • Build on what is working well in relation to your organisation’s community activity
  • Strengthen and measure the impact of your core community led activity
  • Develop new ways of working

Grants of up to £60,000 are available to organisations with a social purpose and meeting scheme criteria.

  1. Small grants

The aim of this fund is to ensure that comic relief grassroots funding is reached by the community groups leading change and growth in their locality; enabling them to make positive changes in response to the specific needs of the community.

Grants of between £1,000 to £10,000 will be available for projects that meet scheme criteria.

Comic Relief’s Strategic Themes 

For both grants organisations will need to demonstrate that they are working in line with one or more of Comic Relief’s strategic themes:

Children survive and thrive 

Actions to give children the best start in life and access to opportunities to achieve their potential

Gender justice

Actions to improve equality for women and girls 

A safe place to be

Actions to help vulnerable people improve their circumstances and safety

 

Mental health matters

Actions to enable access to support and increase awareness

The information will be used by TSSW for administration purposes of the scheme stated and for the monitoring and promotion of the third sector in Wales. Personal data is limited to contact names, position, address, telephone and other contact numbers, and organisation; it may be considered as sensitive personal data where the organisation is involved with matters relating to race, ethnic origins, politics, religions or similar beliefs, physical, mental health or sexual life.

Part or all of the information you provide us with will be held on computer. This information will be used for the administration of the grant application process and for producing required statistics for Comic Relief and other partner organisations. Copies of this information will be provided, when necessary to individuals and organisations that TSSW consults with during the process.
