Trustees Required with Rekindle:
This small but effective mental health charity, looking after and guiding young people aged 16-25, with mental health problems varying in severity, is looking for Trustees to help administer and support the two full-time staff.
The Project Manager is a senior psychiatric nurse with many years experience and her colleague is a recovery practitioner also with years of experience of this age group.
It is an exciting and innovative project which has in the region of 100 clients at any one time. We are looking to go into schools in order to help young people who are beginning to have problems. We have proved that early intervention is key to a full recovery. A good percentage of our clients are now entering university or in good employment.
We encourage the involvement of recovering and recovered clients to help with the project and provide round the clock monitoring of the more fragile clients.
The current trustees are a group of local people who know about the problems of mental illness at this age, as several have direct experience of it and continue to be carers. Although many of the stories that we hear from our staff describe lives that have gone wrong, we are always encouraged by how often the right help at the right time can make such a difference. It is very rewarding work, and we are seeking grants to be able to expand our service in other towns.
We would very much welcome an addition of a few extra people to help us keep the project going. Direct experience of mental illness is not required.
"We just want to hear from some kind human beings who want to help"
