MIDAS Driver Assessor Training (DAT) is the qualification need to be able to train drivers upon MIDAS.
To train MiDAS drivers you will need a MiDAS Driver Assessor Trainers (DATs) qualification. This is delivered in a similar format to the driver’s course with standard and accessible modules, depending on who you will be training.
MiDAS DAT’s course takes four or five days, including the completion of minibus driving, theory and presentation skills assessments. If the driving assessment is taken prior to the course then course duration reduces by one day. In order to maintain your DAT’s certificate you must attend refresher training every 2 years.
A 4 day course covering the following areas;
A 5 day course which includes an additional day to cover;
All accessible trainers are required to pass a practical assessment of their ability to demonstrate best practice in the use of passenger lifts and wheelchair & passenger safety restraint equipment.
Anyone wishing to train MiDAS drivers. The above courses assume the candidate has already attended and passed the appropriate MiDAS minibus driver’s course. Teachers must hold a D1 minibus category and independent schools must have charitable status. If any portion of the course – driving assessment, theory presentation or theory assessment is not passed it can be retaken up to a maximum of three times.
