POSTPONED - WEBINAR: Social Media 2.0 - POSTPONED

Course Aims

[ PLEASE NOTE: This course will now be delivered online via our webinar platform GoToWebinar. A webinar link with exact timings and registration details will be emailed to you after booking ]

Do you want to improve your organisation's social media presence but are unclear on what you should and shouldn't post? Or on how best to use social media to reach your audience?

The potentials of social media are huge - not just for raising the profile of your organisation but for creating an online community of interest around it. Building these relationships takes time, and requires a bit of thinking about how your staff and volunteers should best use social media to present your work and activities online and build trust in your organisation.

Course Content

This is the second part of a 2-part course helping you to think strategically about what your organisation can achieve with social media, how to target and prioritise your efforts most effectively and economically, and how to embed online good practise within your organisation.

This second session will help you explore the implications of staff and volunteers using social media on behalf of your organisation. It will help you identify the potentials, limits and risks, and demonstrate how a simple social media policy can support workers and volunteers to get involved in social media for your organisation.

This session will also dig deeper into the messages you are trying to get across and the types of people you want to reach - to help you develop extremely targetted social media campaigns that build momentum and help you build long-lasting relationships with supporters.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this session you will:

  • Understand why it is important to have a social media policy
  • Discuss aspects of policies which may be relevant to your organisation
  • Identify and understand your audience
  • Learn how to 'pitch' to different demographics
  • Identify your social media message
  • Create a post(s) which demonstrate the purpose of your organisation

Who this course is targeted at

This is session 2 of a 2 part course. You will get the most out of each session by attending both. However, there is not requirement to attend both. You may attend either session without having attended the other.

Both sessions are aimed at any staff, trustees or volunteers who use or are considering using social media (such as Facebook & Twitter) on behalf of their organisation; those with responsibilities for strategy and planning; or those who coordinate staff or volunteers that use social media.
