This course will help you better understand the need for Welsh language services in Powys and support your organisation to do the best you can to make the effort.

The course will help you better understand where your organisation is at regarding capacity and capability, and give you a better idea of where to start and focus.

There will also be a detailed look on the Active Offer Toolkit that the Project Officer has developed over the past year.

We will also be looking into how to tailor your Active Offer virtually, and look into small steps you can take online to promote and advertise your Active Offer.

Understanding the need for Welsh Language Services and the significance of the Active Offer Project.

• Attendees will understand why it’s important to give Welsh Language service users the choice to have their services in Welsh and the cultural importance that comes with the Active Offer.
• Attendees will also understand the benefits of using the Welsh Language.

Understanding where you’re at as an organisation with the Welsh Language.

• (Where are you Now Checklist Ble Ydych chi nawr?)
• Getting to know your organisations’ current situation and the realistic steps to take to improve on those factors.

First Draft Welsh Language Action Plan.

• Attendees will understand how to effectively use the Action Plan Document and be able to commit to it being a tool to improve their respective organisations’ Welsh language services.
• This counts as an organisations Welsh Language Plan. This is a sure way of updating the officer in the improvements/steps that have been taken since the plan was last looked at etc.

Basic Bilingual Greetings

• Attendees will have a basic knowledge of how to greet bilingually, and to do it consistently.
• This will include emails, phone greetings and face to face greetings. Other messages such as answer machines and automatic email responses will also be highlighted.

Understanding how to use the Active Offer toolkit.

• Attendees will be given access to the resources in the toolkit and will have an understanding of how to start using them in their organisations.

Virtual Meetings and the Active Offer.

• Attendees will have a basic knowledge of how you can comply with the Active Offer within Virtual Meetings using the outcomes listed above.

This course is for organisations who have been trying to get started with their Welsh language offer, and have been unsure on where to start.
